The filing period for the Mt. Lake Public School Board closes at 5 p.m. this afternoon.
Three seats on the board are up for election to four-year positions. The general election will be held Nov. 2.
As of Monday afternoon, the lone candidate to file for the board was incumbent Audi Nickel. The other seats up for election are currently held by Dave Bucklin and Matt Gohr.
Anyone interested in filing for the board may do so at the Mt. Lake Public School district office until 5 p.m. this afternoon. Candidates will have to file an affidavit and pay a small filing fee.
If fewer than three candidates file for election, at least one seat on the board will be filled by write-in votes on Nov. 2. If one of the top three vote-getters is a write-in candidate, that person will have the option to join the board if they desire.
