Cottonwood County has low community transmission rate

Cottonwood County is among the 5.5% of United States counties with a low level of community transmission of COVID-19, according to the Center for Disease Control Data Tracker.

The CDC site (found at https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker), shows Cottonwood County among eight Minnesota counties listed with the low level of community transmission. Nationwide, there are 171 counties at that level

The CDC data shows that as of Aug. 2, a total of 5,190 Cottonwood County residents age 18 and older (61.5%) have received at least one dose of vaccine. The same chart shows 57.9% of those 12 and older and 82.5% of those 65 and older have received at least one dose.

In all, the CDC says 5,445 of the county’s estimated 11,196 residents have received at least one dose of vaccine.
