A potential tragedy was averted, recently, when a visitor at Island Park came upon a loaded handgun in Island Park, a place frequented by local children.
According to Windom Assistant Police Chief Cory Hillesheim, the gun was discovered laying in the grass. Officers took custody of the firearm, storing it in a safe place. Police did not identify the type of handgun that was found.
