The city of Windom’s new dog park actually has been in use for nearly a year already, but due to the pandemic, the new space for dogs and their owners was never formally dedicated.
That changed Saturday morning.
About 50 people gathered to celebrate and dedicate the new area for dogs during a short program and ribbon-cutting at the Island Park shelter house. The new dog park is located just east of the shelter house and includes a large area for large dogs and a smaller, but ample area for small dogs.
The dedication was coordinated by members of Cottonwood County Animal Rescue, which has been advocating for a dog park since 2015, two years after the organization was formed.
