Red Cross blood drive in Windom July 28

While donors across the country have rolled up a sleeve to give this summer, the need for blood remains crucial for patients relying on lifesaving transfusions.

The American Red Cross continues to experience a severe blood shortage and donors of all blood types — especially type O — are urged to make an appointment to give now.
Donation sites include Jeffers on Wednesday, Jackson and Lamberton on Thursday and Windom will host a blood drive at the Windom Community Center July 28, from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Right now, the Red Cross needs to collect more than 1,000 additional blood donations each day to meet current demand as hospitals respond to an unusually high number of traumas and emergency room visits, organ transplants and elective surgeries.

For more on the blood drive, including a give-away by Red Cross to those who donate in July, as well as how to make appointment to give, see the story in the July 14 issue of the Cottonwood County Citizen on newsstands tomorrow.
