The Des Moines River could move a step closer to getting a new flood gauge this week, depending on what happens at tonight’s council meeting.
City, county and federal officials have been working toward getting a new gauge since the summer of 2019, not long after that year’s flood. The new gauge would provide more accurate river level information and a greater ability to predict flood situations.
