The American Red Cross continues to experience a severe blood shortage that is negatively affecting blood product availability across the country.
Donors of all blood types — especially type O and those giving platelets — are urged to make an appointment to give now and help ensure hospital shelves are stocked with blood products over the Fourth of July holiday and beyond.
Cottonwood County residents have opportunities to give blood in Mt. Lake, Westbrook and Jeffers on July 12, 13 and 14, respectively. Mt. Lake will host a drive at the Mt. Lake Community Center on July 12 from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. The Westbrook Community Center is the site for a blood drive on July 13 from 1 to 7 p.m. The Jeffers Senior Center will host a Red Cross blood collection on July 14 from 1 to 6 p.m.
For other drives in the area, watch for a story in a future issue of the Cottonwood County Citizen.
