Area teams battle for section berths

Section 3A East Meet

Windom, Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey and Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central each took part in the Section 3A East Meet Thursday at Redwood Falls.

Windom’s girls finished fifth in the team standings with 104 points. MLAC was seventh with 40½ and WWG/RRC took eighth with 29 points. Jackson County Central won the meet title with 120 points.

For the boys, a scoring error has left some of the team standings in question, but Windom Coach Les Knutson said that when the error is corrected, Windom will end up in fourth place with 88 points. MLAC will be fifth with 86 points and WWG/RRC will end up in ninth place with 19. Redwood Valley won the meet with 130 points.

The scoring error for the boys came after a Windom competitor who finished fifth in the event was inadvertently omitted from the results.
