It took a while for the Windom Eagle fastpitch team’s offense to get going Monday, but the Eagles came up big late against Murray County Central.
Trailing 4-0 in the fifth inning, the Eagle comeback began with a pair of runs. Windom then scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth and held on in the top of the seventh for a 7-6 victory at the Windom Recreation Area.
Windom got on the board when Rylie Raverty scored on an error. Kait Huska added an RBI single, cutting the deficit to 4-2 after five innings.
Then, in the sixth, Allison Letcher drew a bases-loaded walk and Jenna Brockman and Huska hit back-to-back two-run singles, giving the Eagles the lead.
MCC scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh and had the tying run at second with one out, but a fielder’s choice groundout and a strikeout ended the game.
Brockman led the Eagles with three hits. Huska added two hits and three RBI in the win.
Jenna Veenker worked the first 6-1/3 innings for the win, allowing six runs on 11 hits. She walked two and struck out seven. Alexa O’Donnell pitched the final two-thirds of an inning to earn a save, striking out one.
