Eagle girls third, boys fourth Thursday

The Windom girls took third and the boys fourth at a four-team Big South Conference meet held Thursday in Luverne.

The Eagle girls scored 51 points. Luverne won the meet with 133½ points.

Windom’s boys finished with 45 points. Jackson County Central won the meet with 83 points.

Individually for the Eagle girls, senior Delaney Smith led the way with first-place finishes in both the shot put (45-0) and discus (119-4).

Jadyn Wormstadt added a win in the high jump (5-0).

Lucy Stevens took second in the 200 (28.05). Gracie Bucher was second in the 400 (1:00.20). Kaylee Walklin took second in the 3,200 (11:50.63). Haidyn Sammons was third in the 1,600 (6:07.63). The Eagles also took second in three relays.

For the boys, Dylan Serreyn grabbed the lone Eagle win of the day, taking first in the triple jump (40-1). Serreyn also was second in the high jump (5-10) and third in the long jump (17-11).

Bryan Macario Rios finished second in the 800 (2:20.70). Aaden Nauman took second in the 3,200 (11:44.16) with Thomas Green third (11:46.19). Teigen Wormstadt was second in the 300 hurdles (50.76). Alex Altman finished third in the discus (117-5).

Red Rock Conference Meet

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey and Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central took part in the Red Rock Conference Meet, held Thursday in Slayton.

For the girls, WWG/RRC finished fifth with 40 points. MLAC was sixth with 32 points. Southwest Christian/Edgerton won the meet with 174 points.

MLAC’s boys finished fifth with 72½ points. WWG/RRC was seventh with 26 points. Hills-Beaver Creek won the meet with 129½ points.

MLAC’s boys were paced by the performance of Cayden LaPointe, who finished first in the 110 hurdles (17.73) and took second in the 300 hurdles (46.05).

Kody Wassman added a win in the 1,600 (5:01.82). Jordan Toll placed third in the 200 (24.30) and fifth in the 100 (11.97). Wyatt Wall placed fifth in the shot put (38-11½).

For the girls, Lana Kestner finished fourth in the 400 (1:06.01). Haily Green placed fifth in the 300 hurdles (56.67). Tiegan Meyer tied for fifth in the high jump (4-6). Kate Janzen finished fifth in the pole vault (7-6) and the 800 (2:42.78).

WWG/RRC

WWG/RRC’s girls were led by Olivia Klumper, who finished first in the high jump (4-10) and fifth in the discus (81-6).

Abby Wiggins finished second in the pole vault (8-0) with Kennedy Vold fourth (7-6). Kelsey DeSmith tied for fifth in the high jump (4-6).

The WWG/RRC boys were led by Gabe Krick, who placed fourth in the pole vault (9-6). Coltin Pilaczynski placed fifth in the 110 hurdles (19.86), discus (112-1) and high jump (5-6).
