At Tuesday’s meeting, the Windom City Council voted unanimously to keep the pirate ship in its current spot, beyond Island Park’s left field fence.
The plan is to greatly improve the side of the ship that faces Highway 60-71. Those improvements were in the plan all along, but the ship’s completion has been in limbo as organizers awaited a decision on the ship’s fate.
The ship was built in 2020 as an Island Park tribute and gift by Scott Kuecker, owner of Cottonwood Veterinary Clinic. It received positive reviews by countless players and fans when it was unveiled last summer.
