Council to discuss ambulance, ship at tonight’s meeting

A new ambulance, pirate ship, new street are among the topics to be discussed at tonight’s Windom city council meeting.

Early in the meeting, the council is expected to award a bid for a new ambulance. Plans are to expand the city’s ambulance fleet to four, with one serving mainly as a backup vehicle.

The pirate ship topic first surfaced in July of 2020, when the ship’s poles were placed in Island Park about three weeks before the ship itself was installed. The ship received significant support from baseball players and fans when it was welcomed, with fireworks, at the first Pirate playoff game, but there was apparently some miscommunication regarding the process of installing the ship and now some city council members considering taking it down.
