The Windom Pirates improved to 3-0 on the young season Sunday afternoon, claiming a 6-1 victory over the Worthington Cubs in First Nite League action in Worthington.
The Pirates rallied from an early 1-0 deficit, tying the game in the third on an Alex Borsgard RBI single.
Windom took the lead for good in the fourth on a two-run Joel Riordan single. In the fifth, Kobe Lovell drew a bases-loaded walk and Kyle Espenson plated a run with a sacrifice fly.
Windom’s final run scored on a Borsgard single in the sixth inning.
Borsgard and Riordan each had three hits in the win. Brett Willaby and Alex Fink had two hits each.
Ross Ackerman pitched a complete-game four-hitter for the win. He walked one and struck out nine.

The Mt. Lake Lakers blew things open in the late innings Sunday afternoon, claiming their first win of the season with a 14-4 decision over the Fox Lake Foxes in First Nite League action at Mt. Lake.
The Lakers trailed 2-0 in the bottom of the second before rallying for three runs. Two runs scored when Tylor Duerksen reached on a throwing error and Kolby Kremmin followed with an RBI single.
Fox Lake tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the fifth, but the Lakers regained the lead on an alert baserunning play. Levi Jahnke plated a run with a groundout, but Tkoel Iyechad raced home from second when he realized no one was covering the plate. That gave the Lakers a 5-3 lead.
Fox Lake cut the lead to 5-4 in the top of the seventh before the Lakers pulled away. Jahnke and Duerksen hit RBI singles and two runs scored on wild pitches, giving the Lakers a 9-4 lead.
Then, in the eighth, Jahnke hit an RBI single, Duerksen plated a run on a fielder’s choice and three runs scored on wild pitches, including the game-ending run.
Jahnke finished with two hits and four RBI in the win.
Jon Faber earned the pitching win, allowing three runs on four hits in five innings. He walked three and struck out seven. Zach Spinks worked three strong innings to earn a save.
