Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove blew the game open early Tuesday afternoon, cruising to a 15-3 victory over Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey at Mt. Lake.
The Falcons used an eight-run second inning to take a commanding lead, then added four runs in the fourth and two in the fifth to seal the win.
RRC/WWG scored in the first inning on a Bianca Weis RBI triple. Then, in the second, Nora Hemmingsen hit an RBI single, Nicole Schroepfer ripped a bases-clearing triple, Mercedes Myers had an RBI single, Weis and Sondra Rindfleisch hit back-to-back RBI doubles and Hemmingsen added a second RBI single, giving the Falcons a 9-0 lead.
MLAC got a run back in the bottom of the second, as Sabrina Hanson hit an RBI single.
The Falcons plated four more runs in the fourth. Rindfleisch hit an RBI double, Beth Byers hit an RBI single and Avery Schoer ripped a two-run double.
MLAC cut the deficit to 13-3 in the bottom of the fourth. Brooke Naas hit an RBI single and Jaci Tollefson scored on the back end of a double steal.
The Falcons wrapped up the game with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth. Weis lofted an RBI double and Isabella Rentschler hit an RBI single.
Myers and Rentschler each had four hits in the win for the Falcons. Weis added three hits.
Presley Dockter had two hits for MLAC.
Schroepfer earned the pitching win, scattering six hits. She walked two and struck out four.
Naas took the loss for the Wolverines, allowing 20 hits and two walks while striking out six.
