The Windom Eagle baseball team erupted in the middle innings Thursday, claiming an 11-5 victory over St. James Area at Island Park.
St. James scored twice in the top of the second, but the Eagles got a run back in the bottom of the inning when Brayden Kreofsky launched a solo home run over the left field fence.
The Eagles took control of the game in the fourth. Brady Espenson led off with a triple and scored on a Wyatt Haugen RBI single. Haugen later scored on a passed ball. Kreofsky then blasted a three-run triple, giving Windom a 6-2 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth, Conner Redman hit a three-run inside-the-park home run and Kade Sammons added an RBI triple.
Windom’s final run scored on an Espenson RBI double in the bottom of the sixth.
Kreofsky had two hits and four RBI in the win. Haugen added a pair of hits.
Kreofsky also earned the pitching victory, working the first six-plus innings. He allowed five runs on seven hits, walked three and struck out seven.

Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove had stellar pitching and defense Thursday, winning a 2-1 pitcher’s duel over Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda at Heron Lake.
Falcon starter Mason Irlbeck went five innings, allowing one run on four hits. He walked one and struck out seven. Luke Willhite pitched the final two innings of no-hit ball, fanning four to earn a save.
The Falcons scored in the top of the first on a Dominik Smith RBI single.
HLOF tied the game in the third with a run, but had the potential go-ahead run thrown out at the plate. RRC/WWG took advantage in the fifth. Jackson Shannon led off with a walk. Pinch runner Joe Strock stole second, moved to third on a Willhite single and scored on a wild pitch.
HLOF tried to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth with a double steal, but the Coyotes’ trail runner was tagged out before the potential tying run crossed the plate.
