Council OKs 3-lane concept south of bridge

It appears Windom will eventually see three-lane traffic south of the Highway 60-71 bridge.

At Tuesday’s meeting, the Windom City Council voted unanimously in favor of the three-lane concept between the Des Moines River bridge and the south junction of Highways 60 and 71.

The council made its decision after hearing from Rhonda Allis and Peter Harff of MnDOT. Allis and Harff outlined the safety considerations and the fact that the matter came up due to an impending nearby change of use with the new Kwik Trip coming to town. The Kwik Trip convenience store is expected to be built in 2022.

The switch to three-lane is not expected to occur until at least 2022.
