Huskies rally past Eagles

Miscues in the field doomed the Windom Eagles on a Tuesday afternoon in Jackson, as Jackson County Central rallied for a 9-8 victory.

The Eagles held a 7-2 lead after two innings, plating seven runs in the top of the second. Ethan Pohlman hit an RBI double, Brady Espenson hit an RBI single, Conner Redman and Austin Doorenbos had back-to-back RBI doubles, Kade Sammons hit an RBI single and raced all the way around the bases on a fielding error.

But JCC clawed back into the game, taking an 8-7 lead with three unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth.

The Eagles tied the game in the seventh on a Sammons sacrifice fly, but the Huskies walked off with a win on an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh from Mason Pohlman.

Redman led the Eagles with three hits in the loss.

Sammons took the pitching loss, allowing four runs on two hits and two walks in one-plus innings of relief.

Days after claiming a 15-4 win over Adrian-Ellsworth, the Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove baseball team saw the tables turned by the Dragons Tuesday, as AE claimed a 13-3 win at Adrian.

The Dragons capitalized on five Falcon errors to score five unearned runs in the game.

RRC/WWG scored in the top of the fourth on a Luke Willhite RBI double. Then, trailing 5-1 in the top of the fifth, the Falcons scored a pair on a Cory Anderson two-run single.

But Adrian added a run in the bottom of the fifth and plated seven in the bottom of the sixth to end the game.

Willhite took the pitching loss, allowing two unearned runs on one hit in two innings. He walked one and struck out three.
