March sisters come alive on MLCS stage

Mt. Lake Christian School will present its annual spring production “Little Women” Thursday, Friday and Saturday on the stage in the MLCS music room in Mt. Lake. Show times are 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, with 3:30 p.m. shows on Friday and Saturday.

Tickets are available online at www.mlcdrama.com. If tickets remain, they may be purchased at the door if any remain.

The MLCS Drama Department is doing everything necessary to guarantee a safe show, including complying with all COVID-19 precautions established by the State of Minnesota. Face coverings will be required to attend the show.

Directed by Aaron Petersen and produced by Eli Johnson, this year’s show features a cast of 12 students led by the March sisters (above, from left) — tempestuous Jo (Meghan Johnson), motherly Meg (Lydia Cavanaugh), shy Beth (Abi Renteria-Rojas) and spiled baby Amy (Makayla Belgarde, walking across stage). The cast rehearsed an early scene from the show.

The play, adapted by Marisha Chamberlin and based on Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel, is about two hours with a 15-minute intermission. Under the guidance of their beloved mother, the four young March sisters struggle to keep their family going while their father is away fighting in the Civil War. In this dramatized adaptation of the novel, even as privation, illness and sibling rivalry cast shadows, each girl strives to find her purpose.
