Eagles fall to Luverne Monday

Luverne jumped to an early lead and never looked back Monday, claiming a 12-2 win over the Windom baseball team at Island Park.

The Cardinals blew the game open with a four-run second inning, then sealed the win with a four-run sixth.

The Eagles were plagued by six errors on defense, which led to eight unearned runs.

Windom tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first on a Kade Sammons RBI single.

Then, in the second, Sam Doorenbos plated the only other Eagle run with a groundout.

Sammons, Ethan Pohlman and Hunter Walklin each had two hits in the loss.

Brayden Kreofsky took the pitching loss, allowing seven runs on seven hits in 3-2/3 innings. He struck out seven.

Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove’s offense went silent Monday as the Falcons dropped an 8-1 decision to MACCRAY at Raymond.

The Falcons scored their lone run in the top of the first inning. Luke Willhite led off with a double, advanced on a groundout and scored on a passed ball.

Dan Kleven and Cole VanDeWiele had the only other hits in the loss for the Falcons.

MACCRAY took command with four runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Ashton Juhnke took the pitching loss, allowing five runs on six hits in three innings. He walked two and struck out two.
