Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove braved the elements Tuesday and rallied late, claiming a 4-1 victory over Lakeview at Cottonwood.
Three Falcon pitchers controlled the game from the start. Luke Willhite held Lakeview to a single hit and struck out six in three innings. Griffin Willhite allowed a run on three hits and fanned five in 2-1/3 innings of relief and Mason Irlbeck worked the final 1-2/3 innings of hitless ball, fanning four for the save.
The Falcons scored in the top of the first on an Irlbeck RBI single. Irlbeck added an run-scoring groundout in the fifth.
In the top of the seventh, the Falcons added two insurance runs on a run-scoring balk and a wild pitch.
Luke Willhite and Irlbeck combined for four of the Falcons’ five hits in the win.
