Suspect flees as building manager calls in report

Every now and then, dispatchers at the Law Enforcement Center are on the receiving end of a sort of “as it happens” crime report.

Such was the case early Sunday evening, when the manager of an apartment building called about a man who had been “squatting” in an unoccupied apartment on 11th Street. As the call was made, the man apparently knew he had been spotted and decided to make a break for it.

The official police report stated that the man ran off while the reporting party was on the phone with dispatchers. There were no further details about the caller’s “play-by-play.”

Although the property owner declined to press charges, it was made clear they do not want the man returning to that location.
