Falcons power past Dragons Friday

Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove found its rhythm at the plate Friday afternoon, smashing six extra-base hits on its way to an 11-5 win over Adrian-Ellsworth at Ellsworth.

The Falcons raced to the lead with five runs in the top of the first. Sondra Rindfleisch and Nora Hemmingsen hit two-run singles and Isabella Rentschler added an RBI single.

The Falcons added a run in the third on a Rentschler RBI single, then scored twice in the fourth as Rindfleisch smashed a two-run home run.

In the fifth, Bianca Weis ripped a two-run triple and Rindfleisch capped the scoring with an RBI double.

Weis finished with four hits and two RBI while Rindfleisch added three hits and five RBI in the win. Hemmingsen, Rentschler and Mercedes Myers had two hits each.

Nicole Schroepfer earned the pitching win, allowing five runs on five hits. She walked three and struck out six.

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey fell victim to the long ball early and never recovered Friday, falling 4-0 at Nicollet.

The Wolverines left runners in scoring position in four different innings, but couldn’t push anything across the plate.

Nicollet scored a run on an error in the bottom of the second, then got a three-run home run from Marah Hulke in the bottom of the third to seal the win.

Jaci Tollefson had two of MLAC’s six hits in the loss.

Kennedie Simon took the pitching loss, allowing four runs on seven hits. She walked two.
