One of the area’s best pitchers had the Windom softball team stymied Tuesday, as St. James Area claimed an 11-0, six-inning shutout win over the Eagles at the Windom Recreation Area.
Addy Bowers held the Eagles to two baserunners in the game, allowing just one hit and striking out 14. Windom had its only runners in the bottom of the fourth, when Jenna Brockman was hit by a pitch and Kait Huska followed with a single.
The Saints broke through in the top of the third for three runs. The Saints added a single run in the fourth, then scored three in the fifth and four in the sixth to seal the win.
Ellie Maricle took the pitching loss for the Eagles, allowing 11 runs on 11 hits. She walked one and struck out six.

Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove spoiled the season debut for the Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey softball team Tuesday, as the Falcons raced to an early lead and claimed a 7-2 victory at Sanborn.
The Falcons scored twice in the bottom of the first inning. Bianca Weis hit an RBI single and Sondra Rindfleisch drew a bases-loaded walk.
In the fourth, the Falcons scored on a pair of wild pitches and on a Rindfleisch RBI single.
The Falcons finished their scoring when Nicole Schroepfer launched a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth.
The Wolverines found the scoring column in the top of the seventh when Sabrina Hanson hit a two-run single.
Hailey Amsden and Isabella Rentschler each had two hits for the Falcons in the win. Schroepfer earned the complete-game pitching win, scattering four hits. She walked 10 and struck out six.
Alana Morey took the loss for the Wolverines, allowing two runs on four hits in three innings. She walked two and struck out three.
