Eagles take third at Marshall meet

Marshall Meet

The Windom Eagle track and field teams each placed third in the team standings at a four-team meet held Tuesday in Marshall.

The Eagle boys finished with 49 team points. Fairmont won the team title with 112 points.

The Eagle girls scored 44 points. Fairmont won the title with 138 points.

Individually, the Eagle boys were led by junior Dylan Serreyn, who claimed three first-place finishes and a second-place finish. Serreyn won the high jump (5-11), long jump (18-5¼) and triple jump (39-7½) and was second in the 400 (56.45).

Junior Alex Altman was a double-event winner for the Eagle boys, taking first in the shot put (42-3½) and discus (134-10½).

Eli Bordewyk added a third-place finish in the 1,600 (5:27.77). Windom’s team of Chance Elness, Bordewyk, Zach Squires and Jacob Green took second in the 4×800 relay (9:53.45).

The Eagle girls were led by senior Delaney Smith, who captured top honors in both the shot put (42-8) and discus (122-7). Gracie Bucher added a first-place finish in the 400 (1:05.28) and Windom’s team of Lucy Stevens, Hadley Sammons, Erika Lopez and Bucher placed first in the 4×200 relay (2:02.97).

Kaylee Walklin placed second in the 3,200 (12:15.15). Jadyn Wormstadt was second in the high jump (4-6) and Virginia Jensen placed second in the discus (82-4¾).
