MLAC Home Meet
The Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey track and field team opened its season Friday with a four-team meet in Mt. Lake.
The Wolverine boys and girls each took third in the team standings. MLAC’s boys had 56 points. Southwest Christian-Edgerton won the boys team title with 102 points. MLAC’s girls finished with 39 points. SWCE won the meet with 154 points.
The lone event win for the Wolverine boys came in the 4×800 relay, as the team of Kody Wassman, Caden Swoboda, Micah Holmberg and Zach Klassen won with a time of 9:16.87.
Wassman added a runner-up finish in the 1,600 run (5:00.47). Ben Nachreiner took second in the 200 (25.70) with Jordan Linscheid third (26.29). Luke Klassen took second in the pole vault (8-6) with Swoboda third (7-6). Mason Brown placed third in the 110 hurdles (24.87). Swoboda was third in the 800 run (2:28.44). Cole Kleven was third in the 400 (57.75). Wyatt Wall took third in the shot put (38-9¼).
The Wolverine girls’ lone event win came in the 3,200, with Riley Schroeder placing first (15:41.16). Schroeder also took third in the pole vault (7-0). Kate Janzen added a runner-up finish in the pole vault (7-6). Lana Kestner was second in the 400 (1:12.47). Julia Brinkman took third in the 200 (30.72).
