Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove opened their 2021 season in dominant fashion Thursday, as two pitchers combined to toss a five-inning no-hitter in a 10-0 win over Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda at Lamberton.

Luke Willhite worked the first 4-2/3 innings, allowing one walk and striking out 10. Griffin Willhite worked the final one-third of an inning, allowing one walk.

Offensively, the Falcons showed a patient eye at the plate, scoring 10 runs despite just five hits. RRC/WWG drew 10 walks and capitalized on three Coyote errors.

The Falcons scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first, then had an RBI groundout from Sam Kleven in the second and a two-run double from Cory Anderson in the third to go up 4-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Falcons scored on a bases-loaded walk from Mason Irlbeck, a balk, a wild pitch and an error.

The Falcons then ended the game on back-to-back RBI singles from Cole VanDeWiele and Gavin Hesse in the bottom of the fifth.
