Napping motorist awakens to drug charge

A recent decision to take an evening nap in Tegels Park turned into a bit of a nightmare for a Slayton motorist.

At 12:43 a.m. on April 6, Windom police officers observed a vehicle parked in Tegels Park on Cottonwood Lake, well after closing time. As an officer approached the vehicle, he realized there was a man sleeping inside.

While checking on the motorist, the officer spotted some drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. As a result, a 28-year-old Slayton man was arrested on possible charges of fifth-degree possession of drug paraphernalia, pending review by the county attorney’s office.
