Area put under red flag warning for fire danger

Dry, windy conditions today have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a red flag warning, which encompasses much of Southern Minnesota.

The warning runs until 8 p.m. tonight.

A red flag warning is issued when risk of wild fires is especially high. The dry conditions since the snow melt, coupled with strong winds today, have created an environment conducive to fires.

Burning of any kind is prohibited in the region during a red flag warning. And, due to the prolonged dry conditions in the region, burning of any kind is not recommended.
