Wolverine boys win playoff opener

The Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey boys basketball team got off to a fast start in the Section 2A playoffs Tuesday, building a commanding early lead and claiming a 77-60 win over Alden-Conger at Mt. Lake.

The Wolverines had good offensive balance throughout the game and were able to force the Knights into 30 turnovers in the game. That allowed MLAC to convert in fast-break opportunities to take a 14-point halftime lead.

In the second half, the Wolverines sealed the game from the line, finishing 16-of-22 for the game.

Damon Khamvongsa led the Wolverines with 24 points. Jordan Toll scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Kolby Kremmin and Carter Olson each added 12 points.
