A second-half surge propelled Worthington to a 77-68 victory over the Windom girls basketball team Monday in Worthington.
Worthington junior Olivia Hayenga sparked the rally, scoring 21 of her game-high 27 points in the second half.
That allowed the Trojans to erase an early deficit, outscoring the Eagles 47-36 in the second half.
Gracie Bucher led the Eagles with 23 points in the loss. Allison Letcher scored 21 and Delaney Smith added 12.
SWC 29-34 = 63
WWG 19-28 – 47
Westbrook-Walnut Grove tried to keep pace with a high-octane Southwest Christian squad Monday, but the Eagles had too much gas in the tank in the second half.
SWC led by 10 at halftime and pulled away for a 63-47 win at Westbrook.
The Chargers tried to break through the SWC pressure and were able to slow down the Eagles’ running game early, but SWC surged late in the first half to take a 29-19 lead.
In the second half, SWC’s defense eventually wore down the Chargers, as the Eagles put up 34 second half points.
Olivia Klumper led WWG with 12 points in the loss. Addeson Jenniges added 10 points.
