Shorthanded Eagle girls fall at Lourdes

Windom Area 0-0-1 = 1
Rochester Lourdes 7-0-3 = 10

Injuries left the Windom Area girls hockey team with a major dilemma Saturday and Rochester Lourdes took advantage, scoring seven first-period goals on its way to a 10-1 victory at Rochester.

The Eagles were without goalie Kaylie Baerg, who suffered a knee sprain in last week’s win over Morris-Benson. Freshman Toria Robillard, who usually plays forward, stepped in at goalie and faced a barrage of shots early in the game from a strong Lourdes offense.

Lourdes scored four goals in the first 2:30 of the game, then added three goals later in the first period for a 7-0 lead. After a scoreless second period, Lourdes added three goals in the third period.

The lone Eagle goal was an unassisted goal from Elly Bang late in the third period.

Robillard finished with 19 saves in the loss.
