The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners helped the proposed Guardian Inn remodeling project move closer to reality at Tuesday’s regular meeting.
The board discussed finalizing guidelines for the county’s housing initiative remodeling program, which would allow for a five-year tax abatement on remodeling projects of existing buildings that create new housing units.
The final step in the process was finalizing the language of the program, which will allow one abatement per parcel in a 20-year period.
The board then scheduled a public hearing for March 16 for the program’s first applicant, T&M Development LLC, which recently closed on the purchase of the Guardian Inn property.
The county’s portion of the proposed five-year abatement is $16,340.
