Eagle girls erupt against Storm

The Windom Area girls hockey team peppered Morris-Benson Area with 65 shots on goal, leading to a 7-1 victory at the Windom Arena.

The Eagles scored a pair of goals on a five-minute power play in the second period, taking command of the game. Windom Area outshot MBA 30-5 in the second period.

Ella Dockter got the Eagles on the board with a pair of goals in the first period.

Then, on the five-minute power play in the second, Marenna Bang fired a shot from the point that found its way through a screen into the net.

Less than two minutes later, Presley Dockter zipped through the Storm penalty kill, giving the Eagles a 4-0 lead.

Maddie Schumacher’s unassisted goal late in the period upped the Eagles’ lead to 5-0 after two periods.

After the Storm scored a power play goal halfway through the final period, the Eagles iced the game. Madyson Fredin tipped in a rebound for her first goal of the season. Then, with 1:06 left on the clock, Brooklyn Roll found the net for her first varsity goal.

Kaylie Baerg finished with 20 saves in the win.
