Eagles bomb Arrows Friday

The Windom girls basketball team was red hot from the field, particularly from long range, as the Eagles rolled to a 72-49 victory over Pipestone Friday at Windom.

The Eagles shot 50% from the field as a team and shot 45% from three-point range. Windom went 13-of-29 from long distance in the victory.

The Eagle offense also was efficient, committing a season-low six turnovers in the win.

Delaney Smith led the Eagles with 20 points in the win. Allison Letcher added 16 points, Kait Huska scored 15 and Jadyn Wormstadt scored 11 in the win.

MLAC 24-23 = 47
RTR 30-27 = 57

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey made hay from the free throw line, but couldn’t overcome a chilly afternoon from the field Saturday, taking a 57-47 loss to Russell-Tyler-Ruthton at Tyler.

MLAC outscored the Knights 12-4 from the free throw line in the game, but the Wolverines were held to 34% shooting and committed 25 turnovers.

Anika Fast led MLAC with 12 points, Brooke Naas scored 11 and Jaci Tollefson had 10 in the loss.

RRC 32-45 = 77
HLOF 30-25 = 55

Red Rock Central turned up the intensity in the second half Friday night, pulling away for a  77-55 victory over Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda at Fulda.

The Falcons held a slim two-point halftime lead, but cranked things up on defense in the second half. The Falcons forced the Coyotes into 24 turnovers in the game, with many leading to fast-break scoring chances in the second half.

Nicole Schroepfer poured in 30 points in the win for the Falcons. Karli Arkell added 21 points and Lilly Stavnes scored 13 in the win.

WWG 14-14 = 28
HBC 28-23 = 51

Westbrook-Walnut Grove couldn’t overcome a frigid night from the field Friday, as the Chargers fell 51-28 to Hills-Beaver Creek at Hills.

WWG shot just 22% from the field in the game and was outrebounded 37-24.

Isabel Klumper and Olivia Klumper each scored eight points in the loss.
