Falcons, Chargers win; Wolverines fall to HLOF

TMB 13-33 = 46
RRC 24-35 = 59

The Red Rock Central boys basketball team had one of its best halves of the season Thursday night, building an 11-point halftime lead on its way to a 59-46 win over Tracy-Milroy-Balaton at Lamberton.

The Falcons held TMB to 13 first-half points and limited the Panthers to 28% shooting from the field for the game.

Meanwhile, the Falcon offense was efficient, shooting 46%. RRC was able to expand its lead in the second half, despite a poor 9-of-23 night from the free throw line.

Luke Willhite poured in 21 points to lead the Falcons. Dominik Smith and Joe Strock each added 11 points.

AE 22-28 = 50
WWG 50-34 = 84

Westbrook-Walnut Grove came out of the blocks red hot Thursday night, with 11 players finding the scoring column in an 84-50 victory over Adrian-Ellsworth at Westbrook.

WWG had eight players in the scoring column in the first half, as the Chargers knocked down seven first-half three-pointers as a team. That allowed the Chargers to score 50 first-half points, building a 28-point lead.

Hunter Lien led WWG with 18 points in the win. Ethan Mischke scored 16 and Cole VanDeWiele added 13 points.

HLOF 28-33 = 61
MLAC 20-31 = 51

Missed opportunities early in the game came back to haunt the Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey boys basketball team Thursday, as the Wolverines fell 61-51 to Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda in Mt. Lake.

The Wolverines shot 45% from the field for the game, but numerous missed close-range shots in the first half allowed HLOF to open an eight-point halftime lead.

The Wolverines tried to make up ground in the second half, but the Coyotes drained 10 three-pointers for the game, including six in the second half, staving off any Wolverine rally.

Jordan Toll led the Wolverines with 20 points and 15 rebounds in the loss. Kolby Kremmin and Ethan Nickel added 10 points each.
