The Windom HRA will benefit greatly from major federal grants delivered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Among the $2.7 billion sent to nearly 2,900 public housing authorities, was a $155,214 grant to the Windom HRA. In total, 115 PHAs in Minnesota received $39 million.
The funding was provided to help the PHAs build, renovate and modernize the public housing in their communities. Housing authorities can use the funding to complete large-scale improvements such as replacing roofs or making energy-efficient upgrades to heating system and installing water conservation measures.
