The Windom Area girls hockey team had an efficient offensive night Friday, rolling to an 8-2 victory over Fairmont at the Windom Arena.
Both teams had 31 shots on goal in the game, but four second period goals helped propel the Eagles to the victory.
Windom got on the board first, as Elly Bang took a centering pass from Presley Dockter and flicked a shot that hit the goalie and bounced into the net for a 1-0 lead. Dockter later gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead on an unassisted breakaway goal.
The Eagles took a 3-0 lead early in the second period, as Mataya Hall knocked in a rebound. After Fairmont cut the deficit to 3-1, the Eagles added three straight goals. Elly Bang netted her second of the game. Then, at the 12:58 mark of the period, Lyvia McManigle scored her first career goal. Presley Dockter added a goal late in the period for a 6-1 lead.
Marissa Bekcer and Ella Dockter added goals in the third period, sealing the win.
Kaylie Baerg finished with 29 saves in the victory.Â
