Iowa superintendent job won’t go to Wormstadt

The Gilbert, Iowa School Board has made a selection for its new superintendent and it will not be Windom’s longtime superintendent, Wayne Wormstadt.

The announcement came in the wake of final interviews last night.

Wormstadt, who was one of four finalists for the Gilbert job, shared the following words, via e-mail, with school staff late this morning:

“After a very positive interview experience, the Gilbert School Board chose Dr. Christine Trujillo from Tempe, Ariz. While I was not their choice, the process was very reflective of what we have in Windom and what we have all accomplished together for the betterment of our community and the future of our students. I do appreciate all your support and positive comments as I pursued this unique opportunity. I am very fortunate to be serving as the superintendent in Windom.”
