Girls hockey falls Monday

The Windom Area girls hockey team couldn’t capitalize on scoring chances late in the game Monday night, allowing Marshall to claim a 2-1 victory at the Windom Arena.

The Tigers scored a goal in the first period, then added a goal early in the second.

Trailing 2-0, the Eagles successfully killed off a penalty in the second period, creating a breakaway scoring chance as the penalty expired. Ella Dockter rifled a shot over the shoulder of the Tiger goalie, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

In the third period, the Eagles had several scoring chances, but all were turned away by Tiger goalie Emma Klenken.

Meanwhile, Eagle goalie Kaylie Baerg overcame a barrage of Tiger shots, finishing the game with 38 saves.
