Inaugural girls hockey reunion game is Saturday

The Windom Arena will host a special reunion on Saturday, as the inaugural Windom Area Girls Hockey Reunion Game will be played at 7 p.m.

The event was organized by former Eagle girls hockey player Trista (Goldie) McManigle, who attempted to contact as many former Eagle girls hockey players as possible, dating back to the season the team played an 18U schedule before becoming a high school team.

Due to COVID restrictions, only family of the players will be allowed as spectators. The game will be live streamed on the Windom Youth Hockey Association Facebook page.

The goal is to raise money specifically earmarked for the Eagle girls hockey varsity and 12U programs, including money for replacement jerseys, equipment and scholarships for girls who are new to the sport.

Over the years, the Windom Area girls program has had players from Windom, Jackson County Central, Heron Lake-Okabena, Mt. Lake, Comfrey, Westbrook-Walnut Grove, Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop and St. James schools.

If you are a Windom Area girls hockey alum and would like to participate in the event, but have not yet been contacted, send a Facebook message to Trista McManigle.
