Eagle girls hold off Luverne Friday

The Windom Eagle girls basketball team won with defense and free throw shooting Friday night, claiming a 57-52 victory at Luverne.

Windom held a four-point lead at halftime, but was held to five field goals in the second half. The Eagles were able to maintain the lead by forcing 14 Cardinal turnovers and hitting 10-of-17 free throws in the second half.

Allison Letcher led the Eagles with 17 points. Kait Huska added 13 and Jadyn Wormstadt scored 11 in the win.

HBC 30-27 = 57

Red Rock Central knocked Hills-Beaver Creek from the ranks of the unbeaten Friday night with a 60-57 thriller at Hills.

The Falcons held a slim three-point halftime lead and maintained that lead much of the second half, hitting four big three-pointers down the stretch to seal the victory.

Karli Arkell paced the Falcons with 18 points. Lilly Stavnes added 15, Nicole Schroepfer had 13 and Hailey Amsden scored 11.

MCC 14-26 = 40
MLAC 24-26 = 50

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey used solid stretches at the start and end of the first half to take command Friday night, sealing a 50-40 victory over Murray County Central at Mt. Lake.

The Wolverines started with a 7-0 run. After MCC battled back to take a 14-13 lead, the Wolverines closed the half with an 11-0 run, taking a 10-point halftime lead. The Wolverines kept MCC at bay in the second half, holding the Rebels to 33% shooting for the game.

Brooke Naas led MLAC with 15 points. Jaci Tollefson added seven points.

WWG 26-25 = 51
Edgerton 40-23 = 63

Westbrook-Walnut Grove dug an early hole and couldn’t climb out Friday night, falling 63-51 at Edgerton.

The Dutchmen pounded the ball inside in the first half, as Edgerton built a 14-point halftime cushion. WWG was able to cut off the inside in the second half, but Edgerton sealed the win with five late free throws.

Olivia Klumper led WWG with 16 points. Kelsey DeSmith added 10 points.
