Trojans top Eagle boys Monday; Falcons win Tuesday

Windom 30-35 = 65
Worthington 38-43 = 81

A strong second half on offense allowed the Worthington Trojans to pull away Monday, defeating the Windom Eagle boys basketball team 81-65 in Worthington.

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Eagles.

Worthington’s offense was sharp throughout, but particularly down the stretch. The Trojans expanded an eight-point halftime lead to 15 points quickly in the second half and the Eagles never recovered.

Conner Redman paced the Eagles with 19 points. Dylan Serreyn scored 14 and Austin Doorenbos added 11.

Edgerton 27-18 = 45
RRC 18-34 = 52

Red Rock Central rallied in the second half Tuesday, claiming its second straight victory with a 52-45 win over Edgerton at Lamberton.

Edgerton held a nine-point halftime lead, but the Falcons got hot from the field in the second half. Dominik Smith and Luke Willhite carried the load much of the second half, hitting key three-pointers to pull RRC into the lead.

Smith led the Falcons with 17 points. Joe Strock added 13 points, including 7 in the first half. Willhite finished with 10 points and six assists in the win.

AE 23-23 = 46
RRC 31-24 = 55

Red Rock Central got the hot start from the field it was looking for Monday night.

The Falcons raced to an eight-point halftime lead and hit enough free throws down the stretch to seal a 55-46 win over Adrian-Ellsworth in Lamberton.

The win was the Falcons’ first of the season.

Luke Willhite got the Falcon offense going early, raining in 17 first-half points. That staked the Falcons to a 31-23 lead.

In the second half, the three-point shooting cooled, but RRC attacked the basket, hitting 8-of-16 from the line over the final 18 minutes. RRC finished 13-of-23 from the line, compared to 3-of-12 for the Dragons.

Willhite finished with a game-high 23 points in the win. Isaac Simonson added 13 points.

MLAC 15-21 = 36
HLOF 34-26 = 60

HLOF erupted to a 19-point halftime lead, holding the Wolverines to 15 first-half points. HLOF then started the second half with a 15-0 run to put the game away.
