Rates at the Cottonwood County Landfill will see an increase for the first time in nearly three decades, following approval by Cottonwood County Commissioners at Tuesday’s work session.
The board approved an increase in the rates paid for municipal solid waste and for demolition waste, with each increasing by $10 per ton.
The board also designated a rate for demolition waste that comes from outside the county. That rate is slightly higher than the in-county rate.
Landfill Supervisor Kyle Pillatzki noted that rates charged to haulers for municipal solid waste and demolition waste had not increased since the 1990s.
The rate increases will officially take effect May 3.
