Westbrook-Walnut Grove got off to a strong start on offense Friday and maintained momentum through the second half, claiming a 74-55 victory over Hills-Beaver Creek at Westbrook.
WWG raced to an 11-point halftime lead, shooting just under 41% from the field. WWG also crashed the boards, outrebounding the Patriots 47-31. WWG recorded 21 offensive rebounds in the game.
Nathan Kuehl led the Chargers with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Hunter Lien scored 15 points and Ethan Mischke finished with 14 points and eight assists.
MLAC 20-26 = 46
St. Clair 34-31 = 65
The state’s second-ranked Class A team was strong on defense and on the glass Friday night, as St. Clair rolled to a 65-46 win over Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey at St. Clair.
The Wolverines were held to 32% shooting from the field and the Cyclones held a 46-33 edge on the glass in the game.
Kolby Kremmin led MLAC with 18 points. Carter Olson added nine points in the loss.
