Students in Windom Area Schools will be getting an unexpected day off from instruction on Friday.
In a notice that went out to student’s parents today from Superintendent Wayne Wormstadt, school will be cancelled Friday so school staff can receive COVID-19 vaccinations.
In the message, Wormstadt said that the district became aware Tuesday of a sudden availability of COVID vaccine for school staff.
“Vaccinating our school staff will help us keep the school open for students and begin our slow process of returning to normal,” Wormstadt said. “Staff that have signed up will be vaccinated on Friday, Feb. 5.”
While students will have the day off Friday, they will instead have a full day of school on Friday, Feb. 12. That was previously scheduled to be a half-day of school for students.
