Saints top Eagle girls in overtime

St. Peter 38-28-14 = 80
Windom 33-33-09 = 75

The Windom Eagle girls basketball team couldn’t capitalize on chances to win the game in regulation and couldn’t overcome a barrage of free throws in overtime as St. Peter escaped with an 80-75 win at Windom.

The Eagles had a ragged night from the free throw line, going 17-of-32 for the game. That included 6-of-14 in the second half and 1-of-4 in overtime. The Eagles misfired on a handful of chances to close the game out at the end of regulation, including missing four free throws in the closing minutes.

In overtime, the Saints did nearly all their damage from the stripe, going 10-of-13, which also forced three Eagle players to foul out. After the score was tied at 75, the Saints scored the game’s final five points from the line.

Allison Letcher led the Eagles with 27 points in the loss. Gracie Bucher scored 22 and Delaney Smith added 17.
