Eagle boys stun Chargers

The Windom Eagle boys basketball team got red hot at the right time Tuesday night, closing the game with a 14-3 run to stun Westbrook-Walnut Grove 70-60 and claim their first win of the season in Westbrook.

The Eagles caught fire from three-point range in the closing minutes, hitting a trio of three-pointers to spark the game-ending run. Austin Doorenbos hit two critical treys and Abe McKibbin added one. Conner Redman then sealed the victory with a fast-break bucket in the closing seconds.

Four Eagles scored in double figures in the win, led by Dylan Serreyn with 17 points. McKibbin added 15 points, Henry Erickson scored 14 and Redman added 13.

Ethan Mischke led WWG with 20 points. Hunter Lien finished with 17, all in the second half. Nathan Kuehl scored 15.

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey held the Red Rock Central offense under wraps all night Tuesday, coming away with a 59-37 victory at Mt. Lake.

The Falcons struggled from the field, shooting 28% percent for the game. The Wolverines also forced RRC into 22 turnovers and outscored RRC 11-3 from the free throw line.

Carter Olson came off the bench, leading the Wolverines with 14 points in the win. Kolby Kremmin scored 12 and Ethan Nickel added 11.

Joe Strock paced RRC with 13 points. Dominik Smith added 10 points in the loss.
