All kinds of thefts get reported to the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Department, but it’s rare that someone tries to illegally buy propane and then have it delivered.
On Jan. 20, a deputy received a report from a New Ulm resident stating that their checking account routing number was illegally used to purchase propane. The propane was to be delivered to a rural Comfrey address.
The transaction was discovered in time for the delivery to be prevented. The case was referred to the county attorney’s office for further review.
