The Red Rock Central girls basketball team got off to a hot start Thursday night, building a commanding halftime lead on its way to a 66-40 victory over Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda in Lamberton.

The Falcons battered the Coyotes in the lane in the first half, which opened things up for RRC on the outside. Karli Arkell poured in 16 of her game-high 23 points in the first half.

Arkell’s scoring in the lane set up Lilly Stavnes, who netted nine of her 15 points in the second half. Nicole Schroepfer added 14 points, including eight in the second half, while Nora Hemmingsen hit a trio of first-half three-pointers to finish with nine points.
