Truck mishap blocks both lanes of Hwy. 60 at Bingham Lake

Icy conditions on Highway 60 has slowed travel to a 45-mph crawl today–and in some cases led to crashes.

That was the case this morning at about 10:30 a.m., when a semi jack-knifed and blocked both westbound lanes of Highway 60 at Bingham Lake. Most pickups and passenger vehicles were able to turn onto 8th Street at The Gathering church and travel through Bingham Lake to get around the blockage. However, semi trucks (which exceed the street’s weight limits) were forced to wait along the shoulder of Highway 60 while a tow truck worked to get the truck off the road.

While most main rural roads have mostly been cleared by plow crews, they are quite slippery. Motorists are advised to keep speeds down, at least for today.
